In the 33rd year of their existence, Corvus Corax - the pioneers of medieval music in modern times - are celebrating the 10th anniversary of one of their most important works. In 2011, “SVERKER” took the listener on a journey through the medieval cultures of Northern Europe. Corvus Corax draw a multi-faceted picture of the pagan peoples, which have long since become legends, with knowledge and instruments from ancient times that have been compiled in years of painstaking work.
Not any other album of CORVUS CORAX was celebrated so much by fans and journalists - "SVERKER" brought a completely new direction to the medieval scene and is now a trend-setting classic - over 15 million streams on Spotify alone speak a clear language.
CORVUS CORAX are celebrating their birthday with a very special new edition: "SVERKER - 10th Anniversary Edition" includes the original album as well as a bonus CD with the first 4 songs of their new band project "CORVUS CORAX ERA METALLUM". With the support of guitar god SAMI YLI-SIRNIÖ (KREATOR, WALTARI), these Nordic traditional pieces are turned into rock-hard metal tracks. Exactly the music that would have been made if the Vikings had already had electric guitars back then.
The ERA METALLUM versions of "Yggdrasill", “Ragnarök" and "Béowulf is mín nama" are currently only available on download/streaming portals. The metallic new version of the title track "SVERKER" is completely unreleased and will exclusively be available on this CD for now - "the Internet" will have to wait until 2022, because then the long-awaited album "ERA METALLUM" will finally be released.

Special times call for special measures: Corvus Corax, the kings of minstrels, are back in the middle of the pandemic with a spontaneous audio book project: With medieval instruments and atmospheric sound designs, they bring Edgar Allan Poe's “The Mask of Red Death” with words and music to our ears.
Connoisseurs of the history of the medieval music scene in Germany know: this story was brought to life by Feeling B. (one of Rammstein's predecessor projects) as early as 1993 as medieval rock - and Corvus Corax were also involved in the background as a source of ideas. In the past few months, almost 30 years later, the idea arose to initiate a new, pandemic-inspired version of this setting and to counter the dreary pandemic times with the bloodthirsty and brutal story of 1842.
With bagpipes, shawms, drums and all sorts of other historical instruments, Corvus Corax provide the historical sound image for the story alluding to the plague that raged in Europe from 1347-1351. Read by Castus Karsten Liehm and produced in the band's own studio, this work soaked in horror and blood is a unique creative project of the pandemic. But that's not all - the band is not only promising a German-language version, but is currently working on different versions in several languages, which will be published digitally at short notice.
However, the Berlin musicians do not remain in the terrifying vision of the story. In the hope of an early revival of culture and thus also of concert opportunities, the newly adapted version of the “Mask of the Red Death” ends with an ecstatic concert after the end of the pandemic.
